Position Summary: 

The Patient Care Tech works as a team member with other Birchwood staff on the delivery of resident care in order to facilitate resident satisfaction, facility efficiency, and provider productivity. The Patient Care Tech assists with the day-to-day needs of the residents related to comfort, mobility, medication assistance, and ADLs. To promote safety, the Patient Care Tech assists residents with attendance at activities, appointments, and meals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • American Heart Association BLS required within 2 months of hire
  • ServSafe required within 2 months of hire
  • Preferred:  High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred:  1 year experience working in a customer service or hospitality role for high-end clientele
  • Preferred:  1 year experience working as an aide or caregiver in a ALF, LTC, SNF, or hospital
  • Preferred:  Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician certification.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Accountable for coordinating care for residents with the nursing staff
  • Implement the plan of care for residents established under direction of nursing staff, reporting observations and comments to nursing
  • Obtain and records vital signs.  Document I&Os as needed.  Assist with other resident care duties as requested by nursing, including two-hour checks
  • Provide medication assistance to residents under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
  • Demonstrate awareness of necessary safety precautions and promote safety when assisting residents with attendance at activities, appointments, and meals.
  • Assist with setting up dining area and serving meals to residents, families, and guests.
