Job Summary :
The incumbent will join a dynamic Quality Department who are actively leading operational change at Hendricks Regional Health by focusing on outcomes based improvements. The Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator will lead all credentialing activities for the 300+ Medical Staff roster in a prompt, effective, and efficient coordination of medical staff functions under the parameters established by Administration and the Medical Executive Committee.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Ensures timely preparation of all medical staff applications for presentation and action by the Physicians Relations Service committee.
2. Implements appropriate medical staff procedures for reappointment of practitioners to the medical staff. Assists the Physician Relations Service in the reappointment and delineation of privileges process.
3. Assists the Physician Relations Committee in research and development of delineation of privilege forms for new service lines and is responsible for assuring committee review of forms on a periodic basis.
4. Develops and maintains all medical staff files and a medical staff computerized database.
5. Has a working knowledge of the medical staff: bylaws, rules and regulations, credential policy and procedure manual, and the corrective action/fair hearing plan. Ensures that these and other pertinent medical staff documents are updated at least annually and are properly maintained.
6. Has working knowledge of hospital accreditation standards and reviews medical staff standards annually to assure compliance with accreditation standards. Provides information on changes to standards to the Bylaws Committee for review and recommendations.
7. Works closely with the Chief of Medical Staff and Vice President for Medical Affairs to conduct business and accomplish requirements of the organized medical staff.
8. Schedules and attends all service and committee meetings with the exception of Cancer Care Committee and Quality Forum and sees that all necessary materials are available, takes minutes, prepares rough draft for chairperson's approval, types final draft, and obtains signature.
9. Prepares agendas in cooperation with the chairperson of the services or committees and VP of medical affairs.
10. Assists the Chief Executive Officer in notifying new staff members of their acceptance to the staff and privileges granted to them.
11. Assists in coordination of continuing education programs for the medical staff and keeps database of continuing education hours for each physician.
12. Works with the service chairperson in planning special conferences, meetings.
13. Ensures the proper retention and confidentiality of all reports and documents.
14. Assures security and maintenance of the computerized medical staff credentialing system.
15. Work with the Medical Director of Medical Education to coordinate student clinical rotations.

Education and Experience Required:
1. High School diploma or equivalent or commercial school graduate with special emphasis on business and healthcare related skills. Some college is preferred with emphasis on the health sciences, business processes and computer literacy.
2. Specific vocational preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of vocational training or on-the-job computer and/or word processing experience.
3. Minimum of 3 years secretarial experience is preferred. One-year medical and/or healthcare related experience utilizing medical terminology. Experience in taking and transcribing committee minutes that are complicated and complex.
4. Membership: National Association Medical Staff Services.
5. Medical Terminology and/or formal health related vocational training
