Within the Experience Design (XD) org, Design Operations exists to help consistently deliver high-quality design at scale, streamline our processes, orchestrate communication and ceremonies, develop our practices, drive professional development, and serve as a catalyst for how we achieve our vision of a design-led culture across the entire organization.

Design program managers (DPMs) are essential in helping our teams strategize, define, track, and deliver work across Expedia Group’s vast portfolio. DPMs excel at being collaborators, problem solvers, and dot connectors while having direct impact on the user experience by establishing and facilitating design processes and frameworks along the product lifecycle and providing communication and visibility.
Drive compelling customer experience vision, strategy, and success metrics at the organization level.
Build the basic structure of design programming (possibly from scratch) that may include: business case, prioritization alignment, team engagement, team governance, 'sales' pitch to leadership, communications, etc.
Define and implement processes to improve team execution and delivery including resolving actual or potential gaps in resourcing for projects and recommend strategies to mitigate.
Drives best practice for problem framing and synthesis of customer and business insights.
Contribute to a growing design operations function that seeks to scale design’s impact across all of Expedia Group.
Anticipate and recognize bottlenecks in work processes between teams, leading collaboration with key stakeholder to develop ongoing improvements.
Coordinate with the team to define the measures of success for the team at departmental level, holding self and team accountable for meeting them
Take a system-thinking approach to analyze issues and implement holistic solutions by ensuring that linkages between structure, people, process, and technology are made.
Identifies and resolves issues that may impair the team's ability to meet strategic, financial and technical goals.
Work closely with design, product, and technology leaders to guide successful program delivery and outcomes.
6-10 years experience in Program Management, human-centered design or related field.
Proficient in a range of methods for facilitating the gathering and synthesizing of diverse insights in complex, ambiguous problem spaces.
Exhibit storytelling and persuasive influencing techniques that build trust with team and partners and establish long-term relationships.
Guide functional peers and partners on how to use standard frameworks and methodologies.
Proven history building and executing programs from scratch and measuring their impact.
Experience working with and supporting a design systems team
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
