Role Definition
Technical design, development and building of complex engineering projects involving multiple functions, organisations, products or value chains utilising multi disciplined components and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective solutions to technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.

• Researching new materials and competitive products. Organizing, coordinating, and executing the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes.

• Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents and technical reports.

• Develop project scopes to address business challenges and opportunities.

• Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.

• Integration with resources across the business with sales and marketing, product development groups, value chain and manufacturing. 

• Participating in buy-build analysis for product components and supporting proposal preparation and cost estimates.

Degree Requirement

• Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum, or 10 years of direct professional experience in lieu of degree.

• Technical Excellence: Knowledge of given technologies and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges; Coaches others in promoting, defining, analysing and providing technical solutions to business problems.

• Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features, processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design; ability to design, build and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production using 3D Parametric software.

• Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

• Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyse and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

• Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing principles and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization; Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position.

• Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies, ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control multiple projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical resources to achieve project objectives.

• Team Engagement: Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to integrate and contribute to the skills of a high-performance team. Coaches other team members to develop and excel in their engineering and technical fields.

• Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations. Evaluates feedback from customers and consults on functional weaknesses.
