What You Will Do:

The Claims (Billing) Specialist​ / Insurance Patient Account Representative is an extension of a client’s business office staff. Representatives are responsible for maintaining knowledge, skills, and abilities that contribute to various accounting/administrative tasks involved in preparing billing data for agencies Guidehouse works with.

This position will be on a hybrid schedule working two days either in the Lewisville, TX office or El Segundo, CA office and three days from home.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Preparation of billing data to be used in the billing of payers

  • Responsible for complying with contractual provisions with each agency regarding the submission of billing and encounter data, including the related monthly reports

  • Submit invoices to appropriate parties

  • Applies payments

  • Collects on unpaid claims

  • Prepares advance reconciliations and applies payments to the general ledger

  • Enters information into computer databases for effective record keeping

  • Collaborates with other staff members to optimize delivery of services

  • Ensures all compliance standards are met for audit purposes

  • Maintains confidentiality of records relating to clients

  • Identifies opportunities to improve our processes

  • Other duties as assigned

What You Will Need:

  • High School Diploma / GED or 3 years of Relevant Equivalent Experience in Lieu of Diploma / GED.

  • 0-2+ year's experience in office, business, operations, customer service or healthcare field.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Previous experience working in insurance portals

  • PC skills in a Windows environment.

  • Knowledge and utilization of desktop applications to include Word and Excel is essential.

  • Ability to initiate and follow through on projects and work independently with minimal supervision

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology

  • Able to work with numbers and apply basic math skills to daily tasks

The annual salary range for this position is $34,000.00-$56,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
