This role will be predominantly supporting the Payments Acceptance product business (Merchant Acquiring and CommBank Health products).

  • Partnering with Line 1 Risk teams and Product Owners to identify, assess, and manage compliance risks across business and commercial lending products, including product design, distribution, and lifecycle management.

  • Providing independent review, challenge, and guidance to support “compliant by design” outcomes across change initiatives, including product, process, system, and operating model changes.

  • Leading compliance input into the identification, investigation, assessment, and remediation of compliance incidents and issues, including root cause analysis and the development of sustainable remediation actions.

  • Supporting effective issue and remediation management by overseeing action plans, monitoring progress, and supporting governance-aligned closure.

  • Interpreting complex regulatory and policy requirements and translating these into clear, practical guidance for Business Banking stakeholders.

  • Supporting the Head of Transactional Banking by contributing compliance insights, analysis, and thematic observations for reporting to senior management and governance forums.

  • Providing guidance, coaching, and quality assurance support to more junior team members to uplift capability and consistency of compliance advisory outcomes.

  • Proactively identifying areas for improvement across Transactional Banking and implement process enhancements to strengthen the compliance environment, ensuring proactive detection and resolution of potential gaps.

Your skills & experience

  • Demonstrated practical experience (typically 7+ years) providing Line 2 Compliance Advisory support, ideally with experience in Merchant Acquiring, Deposit and Transaction or Payments products or Financial Services environments.

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes and align diverse stakeholders to business and risk objectives.

  • Excellent written communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, concise, high-quality materials.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate complex regulatory activities, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes to tight deadlines.

  • Ability to provide constructive challenge and exercise sound judgement to ensure good customer and compliance outcomes.

  • Well-developed risk management capability, with the confidence to make timely, well-reasoned decisions.

  • Strong knowledge of ASIC, APRA, BCCC, RBA and ACCC regulatory requirements, with a solid understanding of Australian financial services law.

  • A role model for CBA’s values of Care, Courage and Commitment.
