Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience in environmental health and safety management including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration required:
FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700 required prior to hire. FEMA E/L/G0300 and E/L/G0400 required post-hire within 180 days. Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (E/L/K0146) required post-hire within 180 days.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineers registration from the Mississippi State Board for Professional Engineers and Surveyors (MSBPELS). Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) from the International Association of Emergency Managers. Certified Hospital Emergency Professional (CHEP) from the Board for Certification Services and Management. Health Emergency Manager (HEM) certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of individuals and functional areas. Skill in the use of computers and relevant software programs (e.g., Microsoft Excel). Ability to analyze and interpret complex data. Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written). Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, statutes, regulations, rules, policies, and procedures. Skill in accident/incident investigation and reporting protocols. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees.

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, constant handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, constant exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, frequent working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, constant driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, constant reaching, constant sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
