We are seeking a seasoned Lead Systems Engineer to drive the design, development, and deployment of a high-performing, safe autonomous driving platform for airport environments.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the creation of a robust system architecture and a comprehensive verification and validation strategy. Leveraging your expertise in systems engineering and safety, you will guide multi-disciplinary teams in delivering a data-driven, integrity-assured solution.
You will collaborate closely with autonomy software, hardware, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment. This opportunity allows you to lead the development of a market-defining product that combines autonomous vehicle technology with a robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) model.
Your work will involve selecting cutting-edge and proven technologies to enable safe perception, motion planning, localization, and control across diverse driving scenarios at global airport hubs. You will also work closely with our co-founders and VP of Engineering to shape the future of autonomous airside operations.
What You’ll Do
Lead the design, analysis, and verification & validation of autonomous vehicle system architecture.
Drive cross-functional collaboration to develop safety-focused systems for airside autonomous driving.
Define and monitor KPIs for data-driven engineering and system performance.
Develop data collection and analysis pipelines to support verification & validation processes.
Partner with the safety team to define safety goals based on the ODD, hazards, and risks.
Create and manage requirements documentation, traceability, and system architecture.
Shape system behaviors for critical safety scenarios and ensure robust designs.
Identify and communicate risks while coordinating solutions and mitigations across teams.
Be open to travel up to 25%.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong understanding and proven experience with autonomous systems.
Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with systems engineering (e.g., V Model, requirements documentation, traceability, verification & validation).
Several years of experience developing safety-critical systems.
Basic proficiency in Python and SQL for developing and using data analysis tools.
Demonstrated experience leading interdisciplinary teams in developing and deploying robotic systems or autonomous vehicles with safety-critical components.
Experience developing functional safety and SOTIF (Safety of the Intended Functionality) requirements and roadmaps for autonomous vehicles.
Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ISO 21448).
Excellent ability to communicate technical issues and solutions across all levels of the organization.
Hands-on approach with a willingness to engage deeply and enjoy the work.
Ideal Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
Extensive knowledge of systems engineering tools like DOORS, Jama, Polarion, Enterprise Architect, etc.
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with safety standards for complex autonomous systems (e.g., ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL 4600, IEC 61508, ISO 3691).
Familiarity with airside driving environments at major global airports.
