This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

What you’ll do:

  • Own complex L2/L3 switching cases escalated from L1 TAC.
  • Perform deep‑dive fault isolation, protocol‑level analysis, and advanced debugging.
  • Lead Sev‑1 / Sev‑2 incident resolution until service restoration.
  • Provide timely executive‑ready updates during high‑impact outages.
  • Drive cases to resolution while maintaining strict SLA compliance.
  • Troubleshoot advanced Layer 2/3 protocols (STP, LACP, OSPF, BGP, VRFs, ECMP).
  • Handle VSX high‑availability scenarios (peer‑keepalive, ISL split‑brain recovery, ISSU upgrades).
  • Analyze system/hardware performance (CPU, memory, TCAM, QoS, optics).
  • Deliver full RCA reports with timeline, impact, and prevention actions.
  • Escalate to L3 Engineering with reproducible test cases, packet captures, and crash logs.
  • Act as customer technical authority during engineering engagements.
  • Mentor L1 TAC engineers, review case quality, and improve troubleshooting standards.
  • Participate in bug scrubs, feature readiness reviews, and executive outage bridges.
  • Influence product defect prioritization with Engineering & Product Management.

 What you need to bring:

  • Technical Expertise
    • Deep understanding of Layer 2/3 protocols, routing convergence, and high‑availability designs.
    • Strong packet‑level troubleshooting using PCAPs and Wireshark advanced filters.
    • Expert knowledge of Aruba AOS‑CX architecture, VSX, advanced LACP, and Central‑managed switching.
    • Familiarity with AOS‑CX REST APIs, automation, and telemetry.
    • Linux log analysis, crash/core dump interpretation.
    • Python scripting for basic log parsing (nice to have).
  • Soft Skills & Leadership
    • Executive‑level communication during outages.
    • Calm, decisive decision‑making under pressure.
    • Strong ownership mindset and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
    • Ability to coach and mentor junior engineers.
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Computer Science / IT.
    • 4–7 years in enterprise switching TAC, network engineering, or campus/data‑center networking.
  • Certifications (Preferred)
    • Aruba ACSP/ACSX.
    • CCNP Enterprise / Data Center.
    • ITIL Expert (bonus).
  • Performance Orientation
    • Focus on MTTR, escalation effectiveness, RCA quality, Sev‑1 recovery time, CSAT, and L1 readiness metrics.
