Job Description Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Front-End Project Manager to lead and oversee small to medium-sized non-turnkey or product/equipment-only projects in the Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) domain. The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the full project lifecycle, ensuring on-time delivery, meeting customer expectations, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities :
Project Leadership & Execution
- Oversee the complete project lifecycle from contract review to project closure for non-turnkey or equipment-only GIS projects.
- Develop and execute project plans, including schedules, risk management, and project-specific documentation.
- Lead internal and external project kick-off meetings to align all stakeholders.
- Monitor and control all project activities to ensure timely completion, margin targets, and quality standards.
Technical & Operational Management
- Coordinate with Engineering and Supply Chain Management (SCM) for material procurement and production.
- Ensure the timely approval of engineering drawings and conduct on-stage inspections.
- Follow up on production progress with factories and ensure material readiness for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
- Prepare and submit detailed project progress reports as required by the customer.
Customer Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, leading project meetings, and providing clear and timely updates.
- Ensure customer requirements are met while maintaining strong relationships.
- Address and resolve any technical or commercial issues in coordination with senior team members.
Risk & Change Management
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities.
- Handle change requests related to project scope, cost, and timelines, ensuring proper approvals and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) standards throughout the project.
Team Leadership
- Lead cross-functional project teams, providing direction and support to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Coordinate with internal departments including Engineering, SCM, Factories, and Commercial teams to drive project progress.
- Lead junior team members, offering guidance on project execution and technical issues.
Financial & Contract Management
- Manage project financials, including billing, milestone achievement, and payment follow-ups with customers.
- Issue purchase requisitions for subcontracting items (packaging, logistics, etc.) as required.
- Ensure proper project handover, including as-built drawings, techno-commercial closure, and collection of Final Acceptance Certificates (FAC).
Project Handover & Closure
- Coordinate the final stages of project execution, including installation, testing, and commissioning at the project site.
- Oversee the project closure process, including snag resolution, documentation handover, and formal project closeout.
- Ensure the collection of all necessary certificates and customer approvals to conclude the project.
Required Qualifications
- This role requires basic experience in the Project Management. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college with 10+ years of experience ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience)
Desired Characteristics
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in project management, preferably in Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) or related electrical equipment projects.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, risk management, and contract management.
- Proficiency with project management software and ERP systems (experience with SAP preferred).
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
- Strong customer relationship management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, make decisions within a defined framework, and consult with senior team members for complex issues.
- Familiarity with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) standards.
- PMP or similar certification is a plus.
- This profile requires 30% time on Travel to customer place and project sites.
