Job Description

The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 12 universities, a comprehensive health science center, nine state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. Salary:

$3,392.67 - $5,833.33 per month commensurate with experience.

Job Description Summary:

The Licensing Assistant, under general supervision, conducts research and analysis of information supporting the licensing team in evaluation of technology disclosures, including topics involving intellectual property protection and commercial applications of new technologies. Provides results to licensing personnel through reports, databases, and other forms of information essential for the successful transfer of The Texas A&M University System's (TAMUS) proprietary research results to commercial applications, through license agreements with industry partners.

Responsibilities:

- Conducts patent/prior art searches, utilizing databases of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and other electronic databases.

- Researches prior art in scientific journals, websites, and other publications.

- Performs market research using secondary sources of market information and analyzes results.

- Reviews business and technical literature in fields/applications identified by the licensing personnel and provides summary briefings on relevant/leading edge developments.

- Compiles industry information associated with technology fields of relevance, including identifying companies and associated contacts.

- Prepares focused market/business reports on various topics and innovations.

- Participates with licensing personnel in internal forums (i.e., departmental, college, and member institutions), external forums, committees, and meetings.

- Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in physical sciences, engineering, life sciences, agriculture, or computer sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- One year of technology transfer experience in academia or industry, or laboratory research or related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
