About the Role:
Now is a great time to join Fixed Income Capital Markets at Baird! The Agency-Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) Trading desk is looking for an analytical and driven professional to join the team as a trading assistant.
As a Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) Trading Assistant, you will play a crucial role on our team in a fast-paced trading environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and detail-oriented individual who is looking to kickstart their career in the financial industry. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in MBS trading and a desire to learn and grow. A background in finance, economics, accounting, computer science or related fields is preferred, along with excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
The Impact You'll Make:
Provide support to our MBS trading team, monitor market trends and assist with trade execution and settlement processes.
Monitor macro-economic trends and analyze data to identify potential trading opportunities.
Conduct research and analysis to support trading strategies and decision-making.
Collaborate with team members to develop and implement new trading strategies.
Assist finance in ongoing (daily/monthly) profit and loss (P&L) reconciliations.
Stay updated on industry and regulatory developments.
Develop and maintain relationships with sales associates across the Baird platform.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and uphold ethical standards at all times.
Utilize systems including Bloomberg, Microsoft Excel, Yieldbook and Intex Dealmaker.
What You'll Bring to Baird:
Bachelor’s degree required; degrees in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Computer Science are preferred.
FINRA licensed (SIE, 7 and 63) or willingness to become licensed within 6 months of start date.
0-3 years of professional experience.
Excellent communication skills and possessing a team player approach. Willingness and ability to work additional hours as needed to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion. Attention to detail and a positive “can-do” attitude are a must.
Expert Microsoft Excel skills. Have an understanding of standard industry tools (i.e., Bloomberg and Yield Book).
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously, often under pressure and/or short deadlines.
Compensation:
$74,900 -$101,300 annual salary range
Bonus potential up to 20% of base pay
