Position Purpose

This position will be responsible for supervising and coaching the maintenance team to ensure safe and efficient execution of the maintenance work and optimal operational effectiveness in line with corporate and site objectives.

Maintenance Supervisor duties and responsibilities include:

  • Inspect and oversee facilities to resolve problems.
  • Facilitate daily DMS meetings.
  • Lead others by example.
  • Follow through on commitments made.
  • Expect and encourage performance; hold employees accountable.
  • Set standards on achieving high quality results focused on daily/weekly issues and can communicate these effectively while considering broader needs of the company.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance activities as needed. Work with Maintenance Coordinator for planning and scheduling routine and preventative maintenance of equipment, prioritizing and estimating work and technical assistance when developing job plans.
  • Manage, motivate, develop, and provide direct leadership to maintenance staff.
  • Hire and oversee outside professionals such as electricians, plumbers, etc.
  • Perform periodic inspections of recently maintained equipment to ensure quality of maintenance performed and operating conditions of equipment.
  • Regularly inspect and check the material and tools inventory and place order when needed.
  • Assist with implementation of capital projects.
  • Approve maintenance strategy including monthly reporting and KPI validation.
  • When posed with a problem, develop timely solution with alternatives.
  • Utilize CMMS system and other computer applications effectively and efficiently.
  • Focus on personnel development. Identify potential knowledge gaps from completed WOs.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, health and safety rules, guidelines, and regulations.

Maintenance Supervisor qualifications and requirements

  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Previous experience as a maintenance lead or a supervisor preferred.
  • Familiarity with relevant health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of computer programs: Outlook, Excel, ect.
