Axcelis is currently hiring a scientist for our Technology Development group to develop electrostatic chuck (ESC) technology for our leading-edge Purion ion implanter systems. This is an on-site position at our corporate office in Beverly, MA.

This role will:

  • Develop innovative new ESC hardware designs and their supporting interface and control systems for Axcelis ion implanters
  • Drive development projects starting with customer requirements and engineering specifications, create and test prototypes, and release new products to production
  • Define validation plans and prove out performance and reliability on advanced equipment
  • Work with internal cross-functional design teams and leading-edge suppliers to make innovative solutions

Preferred qualifications

  • PhD. in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field plus 5 years of industry experience, or an M.S. and 10 years of industry experience
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or equipment design
  • Experience with multiphysics simulation
  • Proficiency in a scientific computation language such as Python, Matlab, or similar
  • Familiarity with electrostatic, electromagnetic, and thermos-mechanical simulation and analysis
