Position: Unit Secretary / Patient Care Tech

Unit: Medical Pulmonary Unit - Inpatient

Location: Main Hospital, Arlington Heights IL

Hours: 11am-730pm / Every other weekend

Shift: Days/ Evenings

Status: Part Time 20 hours per week

What you will need:

•  High school diploma required or 5 years’ experience as a CAN/PCT with 3 years’ minimum experience in an acute care setting.
•  Completion of an accredited CNA course and the successful completion of the CNA certification exam, EMT or paramedics training course, current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one major clinical medical or surgical rotation required.
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• The ability to proficiently navigate computer software systems with accurate keyboard skills for the entry and retrieval of patient data.
• Data entry or order entry experience on a computer preferred.

General Summary:

Reporting to the clinical manager or designee, performs a dual role of Unit Secretary and Patient Care Tech (PCT) in specified areas of the hospital May perform basic nursing care or secretary work in the same shift on the assigned nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of all patients served. Assists in coordinating communication and resources between care team, physicians, patients and family members.
