This role is responsible to support the delivery across WBD – Studio/Network of all statutory, audit, outsourced accounting and compliance matters for Network Japan.

Accounting and closing

  • Manage statutory and managerial accounting and reporting according to USGAAP/JGAAP and WBD policy
  • Period close and reporting for various stakeholders with accuracy and timeliness
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliation and P&L review
  • Review IC transactions arrangement and perform IC reconciliation
  • Manage fixed assets and contents asset ledger
  • Co-work with P&C and external payroll service provider for payroll calculation
  • Co-work with local P&C and external payroll service provider for payroll calculation
  • Co-work with global and external tax team for tax filing, tax optimization and tax audit
  • Prepare quarterly footnote disclosures and others
  • Proactively manage external/internal audit

Treasury

  • Coordination of treasury related functions for Network Japan
  • Liaise with US-based treasury team and provision of information upon request
  • Manage cash balances and accounts including IC funds settlement

Internal control

  • Support Sr. Manager to ensure controls are compliant with territory requirements and WBD SOX policy

Stakeholders support

  • Support Sr. Manager to perform ad hoc analysis and answer questions for various stakeholders such as APAC Studio/ Network leadership, APAC CFO/Finance teams and DC department members
  • Support the strategy on an annual basis to deliver all statutory requirements by various timelines
  • Work closely with external accounting service provider and support as needed
  • Support other team members including JV partners to solve their finance related issues
  • Co-work with IT technical team to handle system report issues and escalate critical system issues to management
  • Coordinate with other team members to reconcile identified variance, adjustments to be made
  • Co-work with local P&C and external payroll service provider for payroll calculation
  • Co-work with global and external tax team for tax filing, tax optimization and tax audit
  • Prepare quarterly footnote disclosures and others
  • Proactively manage external/internal audit

Process optimization and problem-solving

  • Continuously improve accounting operation, reporting process and balance reconciliation process
  • Organizedly solve finance related issues to meet various stakeholders needs
  • Educate other team members for accurate, efficient and timely data provision

  • Support Japan statutory reporting and compliance
  • Regular interaction with offshore accounting groups in a matrixed organization

Essential:

  • CPA preferred or working towards to accounting qualification
  • Strong technical experience including experience of month end management accounting for revenue and cost
  • US GAAP reporting and SOX experience
  • Experience of multi-site and multi-currency reporting
  • Minimum -5-7 years of experience in accounting
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient to fluent in English

Desirable:

  • Familiar with finance applications/information systems e.g. SAP, Peoplesoft, Oracle
  • Familiar with working with outsourced financial functions and outsource service providers

  • Time management by planning ahead and prioritization
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking supported by high level technical accounting skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Proactivity – display strong initiative and ability to identify and rectify issues
