In this role, you will lead the local Engineering organization responsible for delivering high‑quality electrification and automation solutions across the Process Industries portfolio. You will provide strategic direction, operational leadership, and organizational development for a multidisciplinary engineering team covering Plant Automation and Electrification, Geared and Gearless Mill Drive systems, High Power Rectifiers (HPR), and emerging technologies such as Power Management, Energy Management, integration of Renewables and Cybersecurity solutions.

This role is contributing to the Division Process Industries in Switzerland. Main stakeholders are Sales, Service, Project Management, Portfolio Management, Supply Chain and General Management

You will be mainly accountable for

  • Set and implement the local engineering strategy across projects, services and global product requirements. Develop the organization through capability building, modern practices, and optimized team structures.

  • Partner with Sales, Service, and Project Management to shape solutions and secure engineering commitments. Work with Portfolio Management and R&D to maintain technology leadership and competitive differentiation.

  • Ensure engineering and project processes meet ABB standards and contractual requirements. Implement continuous improvement to increase efficiency, reduce lead times, and agile practices.

  • Represent Engineering in the local Division Management Team as well as manage resources, competencies and workforce development for approx. 100 engineers. Collaborate with other engineering teams globally and back-end engineering centers to ensure aligned execution and an optimized cost footprint. Oversee financial and operational performance, ensuring transparency, risk control and reliable delivery.


Qualifications for the role

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Power Systems, or a related technical field.

  • Several years of leadership experience in engineering management, project delivery, or technical teams within industrial or process industry environments.

  • Comprehensive technical foundation in industrial electrical and automation plant design, with a solid understanding of the engineering and project execution methodologies, including quality assurance, risk management, functional safety, and cybersecurity.

  • Experienced in leading multidiscipline engineering teams, develop competencies, and drive organizational and cultural improvements.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to represent engineering in management forums and customer interactions.

  • Fluency in English. Additional languages are welcome
