Job Description
The Department Leader—Architecture & Application Platform Development is a leader on the Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) workgroup, part of the Technology & Innovation (T&I) integrated workgroup (IWG). ETS delivers enterprise technology solutions for DPR and its Integrated Entities. This Leader handles leading the technical teams that provide enterprise architecture and application platform development services. These teams are made up of DPR employees and contractors. The Leader works with other departments in ETS and across T&I and various stakeholders in the business to support the delivery of technology services in the organization.
Administrative
- Manage the Department’s budget to include accurate and timely forecasting
- Manage vendors relationships
- Manage contract renewals. Coordinate with Risk to review contracts and their terms & conditions and service level agreements (SLAs). Ensure contracts are right sized to support usage, growth, and priorities
Architecture
- Champion business, data, application, and technology architecture in the organization.
- Leverage the enterprise architecture framework to align business and technology resources to achieve strategic objectives and improve organizational performance.
- Serve as a consultant to business stakeholders for enterprise technology needs including technology roadmaps, solution architecture, and evaluating technology solutions.
- Develop and implement enterprise architecture policies, procedures, and best practices in the organization.
Application Platform Development
- Lead application platform development efforts for various enterprise systems including CRM, ERP, EPM, and HCM systems.
- Lead data integration development efforts for integrations that span across multiple enterprise and line-of-business systems.
- Implement Agile software development practices to repeatedly deliver high quality software products.
- Develop and implement software development policies, procedures, and best practices in the organization.
Collaboration
- Connect with leaders throughout the business to create awareness of efforts and progress toward achieving those efforts.
- Collaborate with leaders throughout the business to understand their needs and facilitate alignment across key business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other leaders on opportunities and challenges to enhance our service delivery. Communicate resource gaps and identify opportunities to share resources across the teams.

People Leadership
- Manage Architecture & Application Platform Development Team
- Schedule and carry out timely and regular check-ins with your team to listen and provide coaching.
- Set clear expectations and deliver performance feedback to your team
- Address crucial conversations within your team quickly and respectfully.
Strategic Leadership
- Adopt the tools and best practices used by DPR in areas including information security, project management and technology management.
- Create strategic technology priorities for the department and workgroup in alignment with the DPR priorities.
- Lead business planning for the department and assist with business planning for the workgroup and integrated workgroup.
- Ensure teams are structured and staffed to support roadmaps to achieve priorities.
- Research and stay current with standards, processes, and practices in the industry.
Technical Leadership
- Lead a technical team comprised of application platform developers, integration developers, solution architects, and technical analysts.
- Manage key information systems and applications including the enterprise application integration system, enterprise architecture system, and agile service management systems.
- Provide leadership of technical frameworks in Agile, enterprise architecture, and IT service management.
Role Requirements
Education
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related discipline.
Desired
- Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related discipline.
- Certification in enterprise architecture such as Open Group® Certified Architect — Enterprise Architect, TOGAF® Enterprise Architecture Practitioner, or similar certification.
- Certification in Agile such as PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®, Certified SAFe® Practitioner, ICAgile Certified Professional (ICP)®, or similar certification.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience implementing enterprise architecture using one or more of these architecture frameworks: TOGAF, Dragon1, DoDAF, or ISO 19439.
- 2+ years of experience as a software developer, software engineer, or software engineering manager.
- 4+ years of experience leading technical teams in an information technology organization.
Work Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer screen.
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Occasional domestic travel, via airplane, will be required for meetings. Up to 20% of your time.
- Role is hybrid, with most being possible for work from home. But attendance at important meetings and events at the relevant office is required.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Salary is just one component of DPR's total compensation package. Denver Pay Range: $164,343 to $246,515 per year. Colorado Springs Pay Range: $149,403 to $224,105 per year.
Anticipated starting pay range:
$150,000.00- $247,000.00
