Our challenge
We are looking for a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure & Data Engineering Specialist to join our innovative team. This role requires a blend of cloud infrastructure automation, container orchestration, and modern data platform expertise. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience across cloud ecosystems, infrastructure-as-code practices, and data engineering platforms.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Halifax, NS is CAD $90k – CAD $100k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Management:
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure on platforms such as Azure. Troubleshoot network and infrastructure issues within cloud environments.
- Infrastructure as Code & Automation:
- Develop and manage infrastructure using Terraform. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to IaC scripts, optimizing infrastructure definitions for scalability, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Containerization & Orchestration:
- Work with Kubernetes and containerization technologies to ensure efficient deployment, scaling, and management of applications across cloud environments.
- CI/CD Pipeline Development:
- Create, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to facilitate reliable and continuous deployment processes.
- Data Platform Support & Engineering:
- Support and work within cloud data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake. Understand and implement core data engineering concepts including query federation and data workflows.
- Programming & Version Control:
- Leverage Python for automation and data workflows. Manage code and artifacts using GitHub, Artifactory, Nexus, and other version control tools.
- Enterprise System Integration:
- Integrate SaaS solutions and cloud services with enterprise systems, working across multiple vendor ecosystems to ensure seamless interoperability.
Requirements:
- Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Management
- Demonstrate strong working experience with major cloud platforms such as Azure.
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure.
- Proficient in network troubleshooting for cloud environments and capable of diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure issues.
- Infrastructure as Code & Automation
- Solid working experience with Terraform to create reliable, scalable infrastructure through code.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Terraform-related issues.
- Optimize infrastructure definitions for maintainability and efficiency.
- Containerization & Orchestration
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization technologies.
- Work with container platforms to ensure efficient deployment and management of applications across cloud environments.
- CI/CD Pipeline Development
- Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure automated and reliable deployment processes.
- Data Platform Expertise
- Familiarity with modern cloud data engineering platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake.
- Knowledge of query federations and fundamental data engineering concepts.
- Support data workflows within these environments.
- Programming & Development Skills
- Hands-on experience with Python.
- Proficiency with version control and artifact management tools including GitHub, Artifactory, and Nexus.
- Enterprise Integration
- Prior experience integrating SaaS solutions with enterprise systems.
- Ability to work across multiple platforms and vendor ecosystems.
Preferred, but not required:
- Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, Kubernetes Administrator, or similar.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices.
- Experience with additional cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud.
