A Brief Overview:


The Director for Perioperative Services is a professional nurse with administrative expertise who has 24-hour accountability for the operational functions of the Cardiovascular Institute Operating Room, Main Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery, PACU and other site-specific departments at Glenbrook Hospital.  The Director is well-versed in all phases of perioperative care and interacts daily with numerous ancillary and support departments, physicians, and administrators across the organization to create a fluid system for the delivery of patient care services. The Director, as part of the administrative leadership team within the Corporation, plays a key role in the development of program and service initiatives at the specialty hospital and the other system hospitals, fiscal planning, and operational & quality improvement. The Director will be well versed in the business of running a complex, high volume perioperative setting. The Director will have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in various mediums, at all levels of the organization from front line caregiver to Hospital President and Department Chairperson. The Director will be a team builder, able to drive operational excellence by developing and fostering the culture within and across groups. The Director Perioperative Services will utilize strong interpersonal skills to lead and manage growth and change while ensuring the effective administration of the perioperative environment.

What you will need:

  • Education: Graduate of a state approved school of nursing. Required: BSN with Master's degree in Nursing, MBA or another health care discipline.
  • Certification: Current professional Nursing License in the State of Illinois or license pending. CNOR preferred.
  • Experience: Five years combined and progressive management experience required. Well versed in cardiac surgical or interventional cardiac experience required.
  • Skills: Strong computer skills (MS Office Applications), excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • The Director is well-versed in all phases of cardiovascular, general surgery and ophthalmic surgery cases.  This position interacts daily with numerous ancillary and support departments, physicians, and administrators across the organization to create a fluid system for the delivery of patient care services. 
  • The Director, as part of the administrative leadership within the Corporation, plays a key role in the development of program and service initiatives, their marketing and promotion within the community, fiscal planning, and quality improvement.
  • The Director will provide expertise in business, team building and strategic direction in the effective administration of the perioperative environment, as well as utilize interpersonal skills to affect, lead and manage change and growth.
