Position details: full-time, day shift 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., no weekends.

Hybrid - onsite 1-2 days per week.

Minimum rate is $20.35/hour.

Job Summary

The Trauma Registrar is responsible for accurately performing the hospital-based coding and injury scaling and providing trauma-related data to the trauma service team. The position also monitors each trauma case through the continuum of the care within the Hospital to identify cases, extract necessary information and report it for inclusion in the trauma registry database in an accurate and timely manner; analyzes registry data and disseminates trauma information or reports. Demonstrates proficiency on trauma registry, communications and ensure accuracy and completeness of work and documentation within appropriate timeframe. Demonstrates a thorough understanding, accurate interpretation and knowledge of standards that regulate trauma registry.

Essential Functions

  • Identify and abstract trauma registry data cases by referencing primary and secondary sources of information; including abstracting information from EC Trauma Log, EMS run sheets, EPIC oneChart, medical records, rounding independently or with TPM and TMD as needed to abstract information regarding treatment protocols/data/chart information, etc.
  • Enters patient data into NTRACS according to established state and national protocols.
  • Attend Trauma Registrar Courses, maintain current certifications and attend quarterly MTC meetings as directed by TPM; compose and prepare information for injury prevention awareness, attend injury prevention activities.
  • Network with other Trauma Registrars and attend Registrar seminars/classes and additional education classes or meetings requested by the TPM/TMD.
  • Provide highest quality of service delivered efficiently, effectively and compassionately as outline in our standards 100% of the time.

Qualifications

Required

  • Education in advanced medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology and disease process.
  • ICD-9/10 CM coding/ICD E-coding/ICD Procedure coding/AIS/ISS coding/scoring, TRISS scoring.
  • Trauma Registrar Course completion within six months of hire (ATS American Trauma Society Basic and Advanced Trauma Registrar course).
  • Trauma database management experience with complex data structure.
  • Previous clerical experience.

Preferred

  • NTRACS and EPIC training helpful.
