Location: Oklahoma Children's Hospital

Shift Available: Full - Time, Monday - Friday (8 hour shifts with flexibility) No call – Flexibility means covering the  2 night crews. This can be done the majority of the time by coming in early, or staying late. Occasionally there might be a need to be there during night shift. The only call this role would ever cover might be administrative call.

Oklahoma Children’s Hospital Operating Room has 11 OR rooms and 2 procedural rooms. We conduct an array of surgeries, including Urology, Cardiac, General, ENT, OMFS, Dental, Plastics, Neurology, Orthopedics, Robotics, and Gastorenterology. On average, we perform 700 cases a month. We stagger our teams throughout the day and are open 24/7 with a call teams after 1900. We have an inhouse team (nurse and ST) every weekend Saturday and Sunday. Our in unit nurse educator organizes and develops pediatric operating room education designed to prepare, grow, and expand your skills and knowledge with the longest orientation in the hospital. General Description:

Under general supervision, performs professional work in all phases of a comprehensive staff development and training program for an assigned Unit.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting staff development and inservice
  • Develops criteria to evaluate needs of the staff and measure the effectiveness of training programs
  • Coordinates and facilitates competency development, verification and maintenance activities
  • Responsible for coordinating nursing orientation program
  • Coordinates and facilitates quality improvement activities and assessing the implementation of age and culturally appropriate care programs
  • Plans, implements and evaluates Preceptor Program. Coordinates CPR training that meets the American Heart association requirements and is in compliance with JCAHO standards.

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate from an approved school of nursing.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in the specified area of teaching.

Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: Current licensure with Oklahoma State Board of Nursing.  Certification for Basic Life Support (CPR) instructor upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Must have good presentation and communication and written skills. Ability to be creative and innovative in program development. Must be able to work independently and research material when developing education sessions.  Must be able to read and critique research findings for application practice. Must have computer skills.
