Job Description

 

Summary

As a Sr. Software Engineer you will be responsible for building and optimizing user interfaces and server-side applications in support of mission-critical systems. This role focuses on designing and developing modern web applications and visualization tools that render large-scale datasets and enhance the user experience for national security operations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Build high-performance, scalable web-based visualization interfaces using React and JavaScript

  • Design and maintain microservices and APIs using Node.js and Express.js

  • Translate wireframes, mockups, and user stories into clean, reusable, and accessible frontend code

  • Implement accessibility best practices (Section 508/WCAG)

  • Debug UI/UX issues and optimize frontend performance

  • Work closely with end users to gather feedback and improve product functionality

  • Use GitLab for version control, CI/CD, and project workflows

  • Support containerization and deployment via Docker and Kubernetes

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Minimum 10 years of software engineering experience

  • Demonstrated experience developing frontend applications using ReactJS

  • Experience with graph visualization tools handling thousands of nodes and edges

  • Experience with automated JS test frameworks (e.g., eslint, jest)

  • Proven ability to gather user requirements and translate into UI components

  • Strong backend development skills with Node.js and RESTful APIs

  • Proficiency in GitLab CI/CD workflows and Agile/Scrum development

  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • An active TS/SCI with polygraph

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

  • Experience as a Scrum Lead or SAFe environment contributor

  • Familiarity with JavaScript packages such as babel, nwsapi, winston, graphology, ag grid, and sigma

  • Experience authoring technical documentation and system overviews

  • Past success mentoring junior developers or leading smaller dev teams

Salary Range: $180,000 – $200,000
