Position: Software Engineer III

Job Location: 1375 Crossman Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94089

Duties: Build and operate highly-scalable backend services that can serve thousands of requests per second to serve advertisements on Walmart.com. Leverage open-source technologies including Spark, Airflow, and Kafka to build high performance and scalable solutions and improve the latencies of the services. Architect and improve backend systems and data pipelines. Identify existing bugs, flaws, and leaks and fix the gaps in systems. Develop robust, maintainable, reusable code, and software tools for managing configuration, deployment, monitoring, performance, scalability, and environments. Identify the bottlenecks, fine-tune the services, and explore state-of-the-art technologies to migrate existing services to improve efficiency, failure-rates, and meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area; OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years of experience in software engineering or related area.

Skills required: Experience designing and implementing REST APIs using MVC architecture in Java. Experience with event driven architecture. Experience containerizing applications using Docker and orchestrating containers using Kubernetes. Experience with cloud platforms. Experience writing integration tests using Cucumber testing and unit tests using JUnit and Mockito frameworks. Experience coding in Python and Java object-oriented programming languages. Experience using logging systems to identify issues in the code and fix them to improve code quality. Experience using Git and GitHub for source control and version management. Experience writing spark jobs using Java to ingest data between two different data sources. Experience creating tables, querying, and manipulating data in key value and index-based databases. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $117,000/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
