What You Will Do:

Guidehouse is seeking a Senior Data Management and Visualization Analyst to support a public diplomacy office at the Department of State. The client is transitioning to a new project management and operating model after completing a multi-year effort to modernize and restructure the Department’s public affairs sections at overseas embassies and consulates. The office is working to improve the use of data to include management, governance, analysis, and visualization.

In this role, the candidate will review the client’s data policies, processes, and standards to identify strengths and areas for improvement and provide recommendations for the current and future architecture to support data and analytical needs. The candidate will also collect, transform, integrate, and analyze data to identify trends, assess performance, and develop visualizations in support of organizational and mission goals and data-driven decision-making for the client.

Specific responsibilities to include:

  • Developing and maintaining data governance documentation, tools, and templates

  • Defining data requirements and ensuring storage, availability, and coherence of electronically stored information meets the client’s needs

  • Collecting, transforming, cleaning, and validating data from multiple sources

  • Coordinating with non-technical users to gather requirements, summarize and catalog data fidelity issues, and make recommendations to the client

  • Developing intuitive, attractive, and interactive data visualizations using large data sets to create dashboards, using data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI, for a diverse set of users with varying technical capabilities 

  • Requesting, documenting, reporting, and analyzing data, and where applicable, creating tools and resources to support data and reporting


What You Will Need:

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED Secret Federal or DoD security clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

  • FIVE (5) or more years of experience doing data visualization and data analytical


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • State Department experience (or other international agency)

  • Prior consulting experience

  • Experience with Salesforce

  • Experience in data analysis methods and using Tableau, PowerBI, Python, R, or similar data visualization tools to develop dashboards

  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills

  • SQL experience a plus

The annual salary range for this position is $109,100.00-$163,700.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
