Job Description

         

Patient Educator educates standardized patients in core competencies for participation in human simulation activities for medical students and health professionals, including accurate case portrayal, participation in formative activities, evaluation of high stakes assessments, providing verbal and written feedback.  Supports the teaching, assessment and evaluation of the curriculum as defined by the faculty by maintaining curriculum fidelity through case development, case management and quality assurance. Responsible for updating the data management application and operating the data management systems.

                                                                         

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises and educates standardized patients; Maintains SP teaching materials and protocols; Develops innovative teaching approaches that align with best practices
  • Plans and administers human simulation events for medical school, nursing school and all health professions schools, that vary in objectives and scope
  • Manages database of cases, including case modification, participating in case development and ensuring confidentiality of case materials
  • Ensures the reliability and validity of cases and checklist items assessing clinical skills
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

College degree in health-related discipline, education, communication or performance/production, Masters preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Standardized Patient Educator, job specializing in adult education, human simulations or certified/registered health professional

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Various office equipment, computer programs, FAX, ect. Audio and recording  equipment.
