At Glyphic Biotechnologies, we plan to create the protein revolution for which scientists and researchers have been waiting. We are developing a massively parallel, single-molecule protein sequencing platform that will transform proteomics and usher in a new era of insights into human biology and disease. To date, we have raised >$50M from venture partners and non-dilutive grant funding to achieve our vision of next generation protein sequencing.
Glyphic is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the design and development of microfluidic and consumable devices for next-generation protein sequencing at Glyphic Bio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microfluidics, flow cells/reaction chambers, reagent cartridges, and the productization of consumable devices for life science instruments.
As a key member of our Product Development team, you will play a crucial role in the creation and commercialization of advanced proteomic and genomic analysis systems. Some of the key areas of contribution will be innovation of design, design leadership, process integration, collaboration, vendor management and innovation and IP development.
Lead the design and development of cutting-edge reaction chambers, microfluidic devices, and reagent cartridges for Glyphic protein sequencing platforms.
Oversee and carry out the entire design process of modules and subsystems, from initial ideation and prototyping to final product realization.
Transfer, optimize, and implement novel protein sequencing protocols into consumable devices, seamlessly integrating them with chemical processes and instrument fluidic systems.
Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to define design requirements and ensure smooth transfer of inputs, with clearly defined specifications, verification methods, metrology standards, and qualification controls.
Identify and assess emerging technologies and potential vendors, fostering partnerships for co-development and scaling up to production and manufacturing.
Create detailed functional and design specifications for microfluidic and consumable devices.
Contribute to scientific discovery efforts and the development of intellectual property.

[Staff Engineer] MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related fields, with 6+ (PhD) or 8+ (MS) years of relevant industry experience in the development of successful commercial products.
High proficiency in design and simulation using SolidWorks, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), or similar 3D modeling, mechanical design, and fluidic analysis tools.
Proven experience in machining, casting, hot embossing, thermal bonding, and high-volume injection molding for consumable device manufacturing.
Deep understanding of material selection and fabrication processes for various consumable devices in the life sciences industry.
Strong familiarity with all phases of the product development lifecycle, including design, implementation, integration, verification, qualification, and transfer.
Excellent communication and documentation skills, with a proven ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
Demonstrated understanding of component selection criteria and design principles for reliability and manufacturability.
Experience with instrumentation in medical devices, biotechnology, motion control, automation, or robotics is highly desirable.
Strong motivation, enthusiasm, and a willingness to embrace new challenges and technologies
Extensive engineering experiences in PCR, NGS, Edman degradation, LCMS, or analytical instrument for genomics and proteomics
Patent and innovation records in the field of genomics, proteomics, organic chemistry, and analytical sciences
Product development process training for commercial product development
Critical roles and responsibilities of project management for complex systems
