Working with diverse teams and global stakeholders, SAP Basis Solution Delivery Expert will deliver SAP basis requirements for the organization on various SAP ECC, S4 platforms (SAP ECC, S4, PI/PO, BTP, CPI, BW, BODS, Fiori, SAC, GRC, IBP, EWM, Solution Manager, Content servers etc.) for projects and day to day maintenance scope. Governing SAP under SAP Rise agreement and other partner basis resources to ensure high availability of SAP applications for organizations. Expert will own design and setup of SAP Solution Manager. Lead the design and implementation of SAP Basis architecture, including defining technical standards and processes. Expert will also drive continuous improvement on SAP platforms architectural, technical standards, bring in and implement best in class landscape management practices, release management and planning practices and influence IT policies and procedures to enable the same.

Job responsibilities

  • Govern, monitor and ensure high application availability and uptime for production and non-production environments with best in class secure and resilient architecture

  • Deliver best in class technical operations services for SAP Platform used across globe by addressing issues and delivering tasks related to SAP Basis like:

  • Coordinating with infra and network teams for supporting hardware, network, OS, DB, storage operations, back-ups, certificate handlings etc.

  • Governing database operations and leading architectural activities like designing table partitioning strategy/architecture to analysing and fixing performance issues along with proactive performance tunings,

  • Regular setup, troubleshooting and monitoring tasks associated with terminations, dumps, lock entries, transport management, SAP GUI logon issues, SSO-AD integrations, RFC/Web Services/other connectors, issues of work processes and batch jobs, app server balancing etc.

  • Delivering NetWeaver (ABAP+JABA) operations, Client operations like client copies, system refreshes etc. (including pre and post processing tasks), transport management, SAP Notes implementations, outputs management, interface administrations, job scheduling and administrations

  • Implementing, and maintaining Solution manager with operational extensions for incident management (with SAP), change management (ChaRM), Event Management, various monitoring options, Service Requests delivery from SAP/Partners etc.

  • Implementing, managing and regularly updating 3rd party add-ons in SAP solution for GGH including in collaboration with relevant internal and external teams

  • Design, setup, plan testing and follow-ups on Disaster Recovery for SAP landscape

  • Coordinate and work with SAP Security team for user administration and security issues when needed

  • Troubleshoot day to day issues related to platform health and standards as well as other delivery issues that may need SAP Basis interventions.

  • Work with internal and external project team members to deliver various project milestones as per agreed plans.

  • Lead the planning and delivering SAP upgrades, Cloud migration, patching activities and technical operations.

  • Govern SAP Basis deliverables from SAP under SAP Rise agreement and other Partners for delivery of their identified responsibilities. Work with SAP to plan upgrades, deliver and action regular analysis like EWA etc., troubleshoot critical incidents, implement best practices and guidelines related to the administration, configuration, and maintenance of SAP systems.

  • Plan and implement Landscape and Release management best practices

  • Govern and ensure most up to date architecture with best possible patch level compliance (OS, DB, Security etc.), version compliance from overall architecture perspective. Drive awareness of architectural gaps and technical issues from security and technical operations perspective. Participate in integration architecture design and delivery.

  • Demonstrate technology thought leadership by evaluating new technologies and platforms to identify opportunities for improving the SAP environment, developing SAP technology roadmap for SAP Basis area in line with organization’s system requirements and SAP product developments. Drive best utilization of SAP investments especially on Solution Manager.

  • Ensure high quality, up-to-date architecture documentation and reliable knowledge base for SAP Basis area. Create & maintain documentation on system configurations, maintenance processes and schedules. (e. g. Technical Architecture Documents, Standard Operating Procedures & Execution Process Documents)

  • Drive continuous operational excellence by creating reports, analysing and interpreting data, tracking SLAs and recurring issues etc. Analyse trends based on key issues identified through report and feedbacks. Identify underlying problem areas and work towards fixing the same for both technical solution as well as service delivery processes.

  • Identify and implement innovation and automation opportunities for delivery/ monitoring and day to day system governance processes; implement right toolsets, make most out of SAP Solution manager investments, identify opportunities to reduce TCO for SAP, drive the function to become more scalable to meet business growth at rapid pace

Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in SAP Basis administration and technical leadership. Strong knowledge of SAP technology and platform, including experience with HANA, S/4HANA and operating in cloud environments. Experience and hand-on knowledge for SAP NetWeaver, Solution Manager, and other SAP tools.

  • Good working knowledge of databases like HANA, Oracle, MS SQL Server. Working knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows, UNIX, Linux, OS/400, etc.). Technical skills in SQL, Database (SQL) knowledge, database management, business intelligence, enterprise performance management, data mining, systems administration.

  • Hands-on experience in executing large End-to-End Implementations, SAP Upgrades, Cloud Migrations of SAP Applications, S/4HANA Conversions.

  • Technically hands-on with experience in SAP Applications like ECC, S/4HANA, SAP Fiori, SAP PI/PO, SAP CPI, BTP, EWM, IBM, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Solution Manager, SAP GRC, ETD, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP NetWeaver, Portal, Web Dispatcher and common integration scenarios for these modules and related technologies (SSO, Encryption, Session Management, Load balancing, etc.) etc.

  • Experienced in engaging and partnering with internal customers, teams and suppliers to deliver business systems and processes.

  • Experienced on delivering work using Agile, waterfall methodologies. Has good knowledge of how to operate in Agile, Scrum, SAFe setups.

  • Experienced as hands on SAP Platform Lead/Basis Lead in designing SAP system landscape, defining implementation/migration strategies/approaches, detailed planning and estimations, systems design, upgrades/migrations/implementations, testing, release and cutover planning activities.

  • Ability to articulate and resolve timelines for various implementation and cutover activities, serving as technical point and SME for SAP technologies.

  • Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge effectively. Ability to build credible relationships with peers and clients, and continuous professional learning of SAP products.

  • Highly proactive, self-organized, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with good written/verbal communications in English.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • SAP Basis, DB administration, ITIL, Six Sigma, PMP, SAFe certifications desired but not mandatory

Work Timing & Location

  • Hybrid work from our Plant in Tocancipa (flexible arrangement)

  • Flexible working hours

  • Travel – subject to key projects, usually up to 2 weeks
