About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Accountant to lead complex accounting analysis and support the financial integrity of a fast-growing, evolving business. This role will be a key thought partner to Finance leadership and cross-functional teams, owning technical accounting matters across revenue recognition, new accounting standards, internal controls, and strategic transactions.

You will operate at the intersection of accounting rigor and business reality—translating complex U.S. GAAP requirements into practical, scalable solutions that support growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Accounting & GAAP Expertise

  • Interpret and apply U.S. GAAP, ASC guidance, and emerging accounting standards to complex and non-routine transactions.

  • Research, document, and lead technical accounting memos for areas including revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, impairments, and other complex matters.

  • Analyze the impact of new or upcoming accounting standards and lead implementation across the organization.

Revenue Recognition

  • Own revenue recognition under ASC 606, including:

    • Contract review and analysis

    • Standalone Selling Price (SSP) studies

    • Multi-element arrangements

    • Variable consideration modeling

  • Partner closely with Sales, Legal, FP&A, and Engineering to evaluate deal structures and ensure proper accounting treatment.

Close, Controls & Compliance

  • Support monthly and quarterly close processes, including complex reconciliations, journal entries, and analytical reviews.

  • Design, document, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting

  • Drive the development and maintenance of the Accounting Policy Manual, ensuring policies remain current and scalable.

Audit & External Stakeholders

  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing materials, responding to auditor inquiries, and maintaining strong documentation trails.

  • Serve as a primary technical accounting contact for auditors and external advisors.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Support ERP system enhancements and implementations to ensure accurate financial reporting and GAAP compliance.

  • Build and refine accounting processes, tools, and documentation suitable for a scaling organization.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to accountants across experience levels.

  • Lead and develop both experienced professionals and early-career accountants, fostering strong technical capability and growth.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting research, and memo writing—particularly for highly complex, evolving contracts.

  • Experience with Big 4 or national accounting firms.

  • Hands-on experience with multi-element arrangements involving hardware and software.

  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and clearly explain complex accounting topics to non-accountants.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple competing priorities.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment, including building new processes, standards, and capabilities from the ground up.

  • Experience establishing or enhancing ERP systems.

  • Prior people management experience, including developing early-career talent.
