  • Play a key role in day-to-day activities of the Global Business Development team in the area of Complex Gx and Base Business and help execute on the company’s base business strategy of establishing Viatris as a Partner of Choice which includes continuance of targeted generic and R&D programs for strategic Complex Gx licensing opportunities.

  • This role will support senior BD colleagues in identifying Complex Gx target partners, conduct and coordinate due diligence activities across functions, perform financial and valuation analysis of opportunities, and create summary materials in support of executive management decision-making with respect to Complex Gx deal flow. 

  • The role offers a unique opportunity to be a major contributor to the successful execution of Viatris’ base business strategy.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Deliver results and work independently within the Global BD team and collaborate closely cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., R&D, Finance, US Commercial, Portfolio Analysis, Legal, HR) to support key strategic goals and execute strategic alliances and transactions for generic assets (e.g., licenses, acquisitions, etc.)

  • As a future sole BD person responsible for base business, be completely fluent and comfortable in the end-to-end deal processes, including sourcing, coordinating cross-functional diligence, financial analysis and valuations, structuring terms, and negotiations/contracting of potential Complex Gx Deals.

  • While owning the entire deal process, lead the analysis, interpretation, and synthesis of cross-functional diligence reports into concise business cases to be presented to senior management with respect to Complex Gx deal flow.

  • Lead the project management and coordination of work conducted with various internal functions including Portfolio, Legal and R&D, in support of transactions with respect to Complex Gx deal flow.

  • Create and maintain financial models and project datasets to support the BD team with business analytics and financial valuations of Complex Gx deals.

  • Generate and propose actionable ideas for potential Complex Gx deals; work independently to screen and select only viable Complex Gx ideas.

  • Maintain up-to-date contact log and deal database of ongoing projects in terms of Complex Gx deal flow.

  • Monitor industry trends, lifecycle management, and competitive forecast within generic launches for key areas of interest, as it relates to Complex Gx.

  • Work independently in the development of business cases for senior management as related to business development opportunities (i.e. licensing, collaborations, etc.) in the area of Complex Gx.

  • Attend partnering conferences and networking events on behalf of the company to build relationships with prospective Complex Gx partners (DCat, CPhI) to support Base Business.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

  • 5-7 years of experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Any master’s degree in a business-related or biological sciences field, preferred.

  • Investment banking and/or strategy consulting experience is a plus.

  • Strong grasp of the fundamentals of complex generic pharmaceutical market, development, and commercialization

  • Successful track record working on Complex Gx transactions in the pharmaceutical space; working directly or in a supportive role to close strategic transactions (licensing, M&A, financings) preferred.

  • Proficiency in deal modeling (risk-adjusted DCF, share of NPV, product comps analysis etc.).

  • Experience working with various databases and data sources to research companies, Gx competitive timing, and commercial market share opportunity based on patent expiry, specifically as it relates to Complex Gx.

  • Strong understanding of Gx approval pathway considered in forecasting and modeling.

  • Strong communication skills and comfort presenting in front of senior internal and external audiences.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high pressure and dynamic work environment with ability to work on multiple projects and deliver on tight deadlines particularly as it relates to Complex Gx and Base Business.

  • Ability to relate and work with wide range of colleagues across varied functions, experience levels, and backgrounds to achieve results.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The salary range for this position is: $95,000 - $193,000.
