As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Mother Baby Unit, you will be assisting new mothers and their newborns, care, support and education to mothers and also family members, assessments, lactation support, baths. The department is Certified Baby Friendly.  

First Day of employment will be a virtual orientation to the organization and then one full week of clinical orientation. Once completed with department orientation, shifts for this per diem position will be 4 shifts minimum in a 6-week period. Shifts are 7PM-7:30AM. There is also an on-call requirement. 

 

Required qualifications for the ideal candidate include: 

 

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. 

  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN). 

  • 1-2 years of current full time Mother Baby Experience 

  • Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire. 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment based on the department service level RN is hired into. 

  • If in an area providing care to Pediatrics, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year 

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 

  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. 

  • Ability to obtain BSN within first three years of employment if do not already have this. 

  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic.    

  • Thrives in a fast-paced team environment.    

  • Can critically think and problem solve for patients’ best interests.   

  • Effectively handles stressful situations.    

  • Is eager to learn and take on challenges 

  • 3-4 couplet care
