Job Description:

Working supporting Technological Laboratories & Inspections at our Cascina Costa site and offsite to study and develop research on Long term performance of thermoplastic composites applied to Helicopter production.

As part of the Structures Team you will be responsible for supporting the head of Non-Metallic materials group within the Materials Technology Laboratory to support activities relating to all materials and processes used on Leonardo Helicopters aircraft, directly supporting other groups within the Materials Technology Laboratory and defining test activities and analysis where appropriate. 

Final objective is to build a report of all the research activity as university PhD candidate; this will be performed with the support of a nominated tutor, internal person in Leonardo Helicopter.

What we need from you to be a successful laboratories Specialist:

• Providing specialist materials support and innovation to the Entire LH Business supporting design, production and in-service aspects of the business.

• Following, as per LH procedures, material qualification processes and programs related to material changes.  This includes test proposals, planning support and supervision of activities at external laboratories, testing and reporting.

• Creation of specifications and internal instructions relating to Materials and Processes.

• Conducting materials engineering activities required to investigate queries relating to materials and processes employed on aircraft, including the use alternative materials.

• Mechanical testing (definition of activity with Engineering, method development, mechanical testing and reporting).

• Mechanical testing in support of Engineering and Production.

• Production of test specimens supporting Engineering, Production and Customer support activities.

• Destructive testing of components for certification activities.

• Investigation of failure modes of test articles and aircraft components.

• Improving test methods and development of Procurement and Process Specifications.

• The generalist role will develop over time into potentially a more specialist field.
