Description de poste

Note: This is a 13-month fixed-term contract to cover a maternity leave

The Trade Promo Analyst plays a critical role in delivering high-quality trade promotion analytics and insights to support effective decision-making across the Canadian business. The role is heavily focused on promotional performance measurement, advanced data analysis, and trade spend reporting, with responsibility for ensuring analytical rigor, data integrity, and insight generation.

As part of maternity leave coverage, this role ensures continuity in trade promotion reporting, optimization, and analytics. The analyst will act as the subject matter expert for trade promotion optimization tools (Sequoya), partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain to evaluate promotional scenarios, improve ROI, and strengthen fact-based promotional planning.

Your role:

Trade Promotion Analytics & Reporting (Primary Focus)

  • Lead execution of post-promotional analysis, assessing promotion effectiveness, incremental volume, lift, ROI, profitability, and cannibalization.
  • Develop and maintain robust, repeatable analytical models to evaluate promotional performance across customers, brands, and promotional mechanics.
  • Produce recurring and ad-hoc trade promotion reports for Sales, Marketing, and Finance, ensuring insights are timely, accurate, and decision-oriented.
  • Design, enhance, and maintain dashboards and standardized reporting using advanced Excel techniques and BI tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities in trade promotion performance and clearly communicate insights and recommendations to the Trade Promo Manager.

Trade Promotion Optimization (Sequoya SME)

  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for Sequoya, supporting trade promotion optimization activities and scenario analysis.
  • Maintain and validate inputs, assumptions, and outputs within Sequoya to ensure model accuracy and reliability.
  • Support optimization analyses to evaluate promotional alternatives, improve ROI, and inform customer and category strategies.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and the Trade Promo Manager to translate optimization outputs into actionable promotional recommendations.

Trade Spend Management & Financial Support

  • Track trade spend budgets, accruals, and actuals, supporting month-end close, variance analysis, and financial reporting in collaboration with Finance.
  • Support forecasting of promotional spend and volumes to inform financial planning and demand planning processes.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and consistent data entry, reconciliation, and validation within TPM and optimization systems.

Process, Systems & Data Integrity

  • Support day-to-day operation of Trade Promotion Management (TPM) systems, including promotion setup, updates, and data validation.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency between TPM, Sequoya, financial systems, and reporting outputs.
  • Assist in testing system enhancements, new reports, and process improvements related to trade promotion analytics and optimization.
  • Maintain clear documentation of analytical models, reports, and processes to support continuity and knowledge transfer.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Sales teams to support analytical requests, promotion evaluation, and performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to validate promotional mechanics, timing, and product mix for analysis and optimization.
  • Work with Finance to ensure trade spend reporting, accruals, and post-event financial analysis are aligned and accurate.
  • Provide promotional volume insights to Supply Chain to support forecasting and inventory planning.

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in an analytical role within CPG, Trade Marketing, Sales Operations, Finance, or Revenue Growth Management (RGM).
  • Advanced Excel proficiency is essential, including pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, data modeling, and scenario analysis; experience automating or structuring large datasets is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and translate findings into clear insights.
  • Experience or exposure to Trade Promotion Management (TPM) systems (e.g., Adesso, Vistex) is preferred.
  • Experience with Trade Promotion Optimization tools (e.g., Sequoya) is a strong asset.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar is an asset.
  • Ability to quickly onboard, work independently, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present analytical insights to non-technical stakeholders.

Additional Information

  • This is a 13-month fixed-term contract to cover a maternity leave.
  • The role requires a strong analytical self-starter who can ensure continuity, accuracy, and insight-driven support throughout the contract period.
  • Can start as soon as possible
