Position Summary

This position is responsible for tasks in Student Accounting and Accounting Operations. Primary responsibilities include analysis of student financial transactions, management of payment plan activity, and ensuring payments received at the university for student balances are processed correctly. This position is also responsible for providing customer service to students, parents, and University departments with respect to financial transactions on student accounts. This position will support Supervisor and other areas of Accounting Operations.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of student financial transactions.  Analyze student charges and balances.  Accurately record various incoming payments to the general ledger on a daily basis. Accurately record the Employee Tuition Assistance benefit, work with HR to resolve issues.

  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to students, parents and University departments with respect to financial transactions, payment plans, 1098Ts and other financial activity on student accounts. Ensure compliance with FERPA regulations and University policies.

  • Responsible for managing returned refunds and returned payments. Assist with sending student sponsor invoices and posting student sponsor payments. Cross train with Customer Accounts, assist as required.

  • Assist supervisor with managing Student Accounts Receivable (>$500M annually) for the University. Complete annual testing in preparation and issuance of >14,000 1098Ts. Maintain working knowledge of various procedures, processes and systems in Student Accounting and Accounting Operations. Be actively engaged with implementation of Workday Student.

  • Additional tasks as assigned and provide support to the Supervisor of Student Accounting. Assist other areas of Accounting Operations, including Cash and Credit Operations and Customer Accounts. Complete special projects and other work as assigned by management.

Salary Range

$21.17 - $32.85 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
