JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President, Field Sales is a USBL (US Broadline) Market leadership role (part of the Market level leadership team) that is responsible for deploying field changes, executing sales strategies, leading the PSP initiative and ensuring alignment between market and corporate ambitions. The MVPFD additionally leads the Revenue Management team, Ecommerce participation and other strategic field initiatives in their respective Market. The candidate will work closely with Market and OPCO (operating company) leadership, Corporate, other Sysco Market functional teams, Sales Development and with other partners to drive execution and deployment of key initiatives that involve people, process and solutions that are intended to accelerate case growth, drive margin and deliver gross profit improvement.  The leader will be the key connection point linking the execution of all Field Sales and Revenue Management with the Market President, Functional Market Leaders, Direct Reports, OPCO Presidents, OPCO Sales, and RevMan leaders and other Field Leadership.  The candidate will have accountability and responsibility for leading a market-specific team, owning all deployment and execution, owning field deployment planning, will have accountability for Market level leadership. Area of responsibility will include all areas of Local Sales, Revenue Management, Deployment and for leadership in a variety of initiatives with numerous cross-functional Corporate and field-based teams on the development and execution of all field facing Sales and Revenue Management tools.      

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a Market-wide team that is focused and responsible for all Field Sales, Revenue Management and Deployment
  • Owns all Market level Process and Results-oriented measures for the deployment and execution of all field initiatives in Field Sales and Revenue Management
  • Lead and develop a diverse team of field and Market leaders that will be distributed throughout Market
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership, Market level leaders, Corporate and Operating Company Business leadership, Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, Category Management and  FP&A (financial planning & analysis) teams to collaborate, align on key priorities, and develop appropriate solutions to address business challenges
  • Owns and drives prioritization of the overall deployment agenda, key initiatives, and execution of the AOP (Annual Operating Plan) material for Market area
  • Create and manage overall deployment strategy and methodology across specific Market for all in-scope initiatives
  • Directly engages with Market Presidents, OpCo Presidents, VP (vice president) Sales, other Market Functional Leaders for feedback, collaboration, issue resolution, and problem-solving
  • Collaborate, engage, influence and direct the work of a variety of corporate and field-based teams based on key initiatives, with a broader relationship network
  • Contribute to the achievement of financial and non-financial goals and objectives set forth by Corporate and Market leadership
  • Directly lead a team of Market level leaders and serve as the primary point of accountability for the Market President role
  • Work with external Management Consultants, Third Party providers and another support team to build and enable execution development

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Accounting or related field or an appropriate combination of education and management experience
  • Advanced degree preferred


Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience working in a Sales, Operating Company or multi-function leadership role at Sysco or similar operating experience in other industries, with at least 5 years of specific experience in a Field or National Sales leadership role within a leading organization.

  • Experience in leading complex, multi-dimension teams that operate in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Strong collaboration and influence skills, and the ability to lead listen and influence at the senior-most levels of the organization
  • Leadership Proficiency in Field Sales, Revenue Management and execution
  • A demonstrated understanding of all areas of the Sysco:  Merchandising, CMU (corporate multi-unit) sales, Marketing, Field Sales, Business Technology, Ecommerce, Market and USBL Operations, Field and Corporate Finance, SBS (Sysco business services), HR(human resources), Legal
  • Experience in all Field facing tools such as 360, Territory Planning, PMT (price manager tool), Ecommerce, and other current processes, procedures, and tools
  • Proven experience in developing comprehensive deployment plans, relevant go to market strategies and execution plans
  • Expertise in leading change, making appropriate decisions on change readiness at the Market and Operating Company level
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage complex projects and teams
  • Demonstrates well-developed influencing skills with the ability to easily connect credibly with field and corporate leadership
  • Possesses a deep understanding and demonstrated capability for strategy, processes, capabilities, enabling technologies, and measurement
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations
  • Able to drive consensus among key stakeholders with diverse needs and interests

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.

Work Environment

  • Approximately 60% of travel is required in this role.   
  • Must be able to travel frequently to Sysco facilities or operating companies.
