We are looking for you to join our team as a Field Technician 4 based out of Elkridge, MD. Roles and Responsibilities

This position will require the Field Technician 4 provide engineering technician support to the Systems engineers in the Long Range Air Defense Systems business unit.  This position directly assists the engineering team with computer-aided design (CAD) details and hands-on support in both the lab and the field with the testing and deployment of air defense systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Turning engineering concepts into AutoCAD, Visio, Unigraphics or other detailed drawings. 
  • Provide 3D models if required in 3D Studio, Illustrator, Photoshop or similar to support concept realization in either engineering designs or customer presentations.
  • Define system parts lists, interconnect diagrams, geometric dimensioning with tolerances or other details to support implementation of engineering designs in the ISE/CADSTAR/MPLM systems. This includes new releases as well as revision notices to existing vaulted documents.
  • Researching existing design documents to support updates as dictated by program requirements
  • In lab, production area, or field provide hands-on support that might require the following certifications: soldering, surface mount soldering, mechanical installation, wiring, FOD elimination, torque specifications.
  • At customer (either CONUS or OCONUS) facilities provide hands-on support for any work that might require the following certifications: forklift operations, painting with full face respirator, gantry crane operations.
  • Support integration, test, troubleshooting, remove and replace, upgrade or repair of systems or parts.
  • Effectively able to communicate with engineers, managers and customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 6 years of additional education and/or related experience.
  • Able to understand and edit design or assembly drawings and schematics.
  • Able to trouble-shoot both electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Able and willing to travel both CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Clearance: Candidate must be a US citizen and currently have, and be able to maintain an active/current U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance or higher.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years’ experience in graphics design using AutoCAD or equivalent software
  • 10 years' experience working with engineers doing system design, integration and test
  • 10 years' experience working with electronics and mechanical assemblies in both in-plant and field environments.
  • Experience with Windows based networks, Excel, Visio, engineering information systems (such as ISE/CADSTAR/MPLM)

Salary Range: $73,400.00 - $122,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
