Mandate & Core Accountabilities

As an Associate in the Strategy and Business Transformation team within the Office of the COO, you will provide subject matter expertise in the design, development, management, and implementation of assigned projects from business case development through execution. Work across BMO Capital Markets and the Enterprise to deliver specific project/program business results in alignment with overall group goals.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to Capital Markets and Enterprise goals.
  • Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of Capital Markets’ strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Influences and negotiates to achieve Capital Markets objectives; ensures solutions are aligned with business and enterprise goals.
  • Assists in the development of strategic plans.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Participates in implementation of strategic initiatives within group and across BMO by partnering with various internal & external stakeholders as required; complexity of initiatives may vary and usually involve multiple stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Participates in project/program design and provides advice & subject matter expertise to achieve required business results.
  • Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Collaborates with internal & external stakeholders to provide business context in the design, develop and implementation of programs & solutions.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Monitors and tracks performance of initiatives / projects, including raising issues and working to resolve them
  • Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Business Strategy:

  • Supports the team as needed, in the development and execution of business strategy.
  • Assists the team in analyzing data and other information to help provide insights and recommendations.
  • Provides strategic input and makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and implementing new initiatives, based on an in-depth understanding of the business/group.
  • Develops an expert understanding of business/group challenges.
  • Networks with industry contacts to gather competitive insights and best practices
  • Assist in the development of strategic recommendations to optimally position Capital Markets and pursue market opportunities aligned with the strategy set by leadership
  • Develops strategies that allow the market segment to achieve the status of highly credible and trusted strategic partners and build expertise for Capital Markets to be viewed as a valuable source of information, advice, and guidance (internally and externally)

Initiatives Delivery:

  • Works on the delivery of various initiatives, which may involve collaboration with multiple stakeholders (internal/external)
  • Assists in the project/program design that facilitates achievement of required business results.
  • Participates in conducting analysis required to inform strategic business development recommendations
  • May participate in some networking with industry contacts to gather and identify competitive insights and best practices.
  • Partners with team members to recommend and/or implement solutions based on the analysis of issues and implications for the business.
  • Collaborates with team members to align key performance indicators with forecasts/plans and initiatives.
  • Identifies enablers and key issues prior to and during implementation, raises issues with stakeholders and offers solutions to resolve issues or risks that jeopardize delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Typically, 5-7 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience; completion of an MBA is desirable
  • Good understanding of Capital Markets products, client types, regulatory considerations
  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth.
  • Collaboration & team skills - In-depth.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth.
  • Data driven decision making - In-depth.
  • Influence skills - In-depth.
  • Advance user in MS Excel as well as MS PowerPoint
  • Can deal with ambiguity and complexity

Salary:

$60,000.00 - $111,700.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
