Job Summary

Consistently create an exceptional experience with each contact, via inbound and outbound calls, online chat, email, etc. Adheres to established procedure and quality guidelines in support of Patient Access Services Center performance indicators, as well as Corporate values and codes of excellence.

Essential Functions

  • Meets all requirements, and is proficient, in lab assistant role.
  • Role models and serves as a resource to others, including mentoring new staff. Teaches and orients new associates or students in lab assistant skills or tasks.
  • Communicates, collaborates, and acts as a liaison with support staff, management, members of the health care team and others in order to facilitate continuity and coordination of services
  • May handle telephone inquiries for the lab providing technical explanations and interpretations when necessary. May serve as a resource for specimen collection and handling questions, forensic drug testing, point of care testing and other pertinent lab specialties.
  • May prepare specimens for reference lab testing according to lab protocol and federal shipping guidelines insuring specimen and volume, accurate test orders and test information.
  • Provide assistance to technical staff. Job assignments may include glassware cleaning, loading and unloading analyzers, adding on testing, sorting specimens, receiving inpatient, ER and OR specimens, answering phone calls.
  • May coordinate all support area needs for the lab, as well as all Lab Service Representative functions. May be required to serve at multiple SH locations during a given shift (Site dependent)
  • May be required to meet specific quality and productivity metrics for their department

Qualifications

  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Associate's Degree health care related field
  • 2 years of relevant experience laboratory support services, customer service, or related Required
  • CRT-Clinical Lab Assistant (CLA) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred Or
  • CRT-Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred
  • CRT-Phlebotomy Technician - NHA National Health career Association preferred
