Patient Access Representatives deliver what matters most to our patients and their families, ensure exceptional experiences and thrive on making positive impacts in the community. As a Patient Access Representative, you will pre-register and greet patients in the Emergency Department, verify information and collect copays for diagnostic services and pre-register patients for outpatient services. Your role is essential to ensuring a seamless model of access for patients, physicians, and family members and setting the tone for how each patient visit goes. 

 

A caregiver in this position works nights from 11:00PM – 7:00AM, including rotating weekends. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Perform registration and complete an accurate face-to-face interview to obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information. 

  • Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.  

  • Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.  

  • Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role with in-person or phone contact OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree   

  • Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year 

  • Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. 

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.  

  • Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.  

  • In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.  

  • In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
