Job Description:
The Senior Change Management Consultant role is a key leadership role accountable for driving change in the SLFD organization. These changes may include, organizational culture transformations, changes that impact business processes and/or roles, changes in the underlying systems or technology platforms we use, any kind of changes that impact people and who’s success will dependent on successful adoption of new ways of working.
The Senior Change Management Consultant plays a key role in ensuring change initiatives (programs or projects) achieve their stated objectives and outcomes. This role will focus on the people side of change and at a high level involves:
Determining and diagnosing the scope and impact of the change against a stakeholder map
Developing a change management strategy as well as an integrated change management plan in partnership with other key leaders on the initiative
Overseeing and supporting the execution of the change management plan – assessing effectiveness and feedback, and making adjustments along the way
Defining and reporting on relevant metrics to effectively gauge the success of the change in achieving target outcomes
Coordinating communications across the scope of an initiative/ project and liaising with stakeholders, partners and business owners to map requirements, create communication plans and content as well as ensure that leadership have the tools to provide updates etc. through the lifespan of the initiative/project
Apply a structured change management methodology aligned with our evolving Sun Life change management best practices and lead change management activities for assigned initiative(s). This includes working with the Initiative Owner, ensuring there is a clear articulation of the Change story – what will be different? What are the key “From … To’s”
What will you do
Assess stakeholder analysis, risk and change impact
Evolve the change management strategy & obtain approval as required
Identify, analyze, prepare change management related risk assessment and mitigation tactics
Anticipate and manage anticipated resistance as a key part of the Change Plan
Consult and coach initiative sponsors or project team members as needed
Create an actionable and integrated Change Plan that covers all key stakeholder audiences across the key change management activity levers: communications plan, sponsor action plan, coaching plan, training plan, resistance management plan
Create communication plan in alignment with the project governance and roadmap, ensuring partners and stakeholders provide subject matter content, leaders are provided with communications timeline and applicable speaking tools (i.e. speaking notes, Q&As etc) and providing regular updates as required
Support training efforts
Support and engage senior leaders
Support organizational design and definition of roles and responsibilities
Integrate change management activities with overall initiative/ project execution plan in partnership with the Program / Project Manager
Evaluate and ensure business / operational readiness from a “people” perspective
Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress
Assess effectiveness of change tactics and use feedback loops to continuously adapt tactics to the intended audience
As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
