Neogen Corporation is seeking a Software QA Tester to conduct manual testing activities for software and hardware instruments. The primary responsibility of this role, as Software Quality Assurance Tester that is more manual based versus automation, to participate in all aspects of the product release process.
Residency Requirement: Applicants must reside in Oakdale, Minnesota, or be willing to relocate to Oakdale to be considered for this position.
Key responsibilities include:
- Participate in Agile Scram meetings with cross-functional teams including software developers, product managers, and quality assurance members to refine requirements and prioritize testing activities.
- Creation and execution test cases and test plans to ensure robust implementation of new features and bug fixes.
- Conduct thorough manual testing to validate hardware instruments and software products' functionality, performance, and compatibility across different platforms.
- Perform comprehensive testing on various hardware instruments to ensure accurate data acquisition and transmission to the connected application.
- Identify, document, and report bugs, defects, and improvement opportunities using bug-tracking tools (Azure DevOps).
- Validate resolution.
- Evaluate the potential for new test cases to enhance code coverage as part of continuous improvement commitment.
- Validate bugs that are reported to confirm and document the failure or reject as a bug.
- Follow established quality assurance processes.
- Utilize good problem-solving techniques to resolve software complaints and improve the quality of software products.
- Participate actively in test case reviews, test strategy discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide clear and concise feedback to senior management and stakeholders on testing progress, issues encountered, and overall software quality.
- Ability to adjust the schedule (working hours) according to offshore team time zones to facilitate collaboration and meetings.
- Comfortable with a flexible working environment: 30% of the time on-site in the Neogen building in Lansing and 70% remote.
Knowledge, skills and experience required includes:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science and/or an Engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience with manual testing. Experience in testing instruments and data management desktop applications is advantageous.
- In-depth understanding of manual testing methodologies, techniques, and best practices.
- Proficiency in creating test plans, test cases, and test scripts for hardware instruments and software.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, TestRail or some other project management and test case repository.
- Solid knowledge of Agile development methodologies and Scram ceremonies.
