Job Title: Customs Compliance Specialist

Salary: £55k to £60 depending on experience

Location: Desford, Leicestershire

Contract: Full time & permanent 

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about global trade and compliance? Join us as a Customs Compliance Specialist, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth and compliant import/export operations. This is your chance to work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with teams across the business to solve challenges and improve processes that keep our global trade running efficiently.

What you will do:

As a Customs Compliance Specialist, you are accountable for, but not limited to:

• Manage daily operational issues related to global trade compliance.

• Advise internal stakeholders on import/export regulations and best practices.

• Maintain accurate records and prepare analysis for audits and reviews.

• Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance.

• Assess economic and political risks impacting international trade.

• Ensure adherence to all applicable trade laws and regulatory requirements.

What You Can Demonstrate:

Working Knowledge In:

• International Trade: Brings expertise in global trade markets, regulations, and operations, with hands-on experience in trade compliance and export controls. Skilled at managing international trade activities while ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.

Extensive Experience In:

• Managing Multiple Priorities: Handles multiple tasks and shifting priorities effectively, manages competing demands, and works collaboratively to resolve conflicts and re-prioritise work as needed.

• Problem Solving: Leads problem-solving efforts by organising teams, applying appropriate techniques, and developing effective resolutions for complex issues. Captures lessons learned and contributes to improving standard practices and processes

• Data Gathering & Reporting: Manages data analysis and reporting, prepares cost-benefit evaluations, and ensures accuracy across multiple projects. Reviews complex reports, oversees data-gathering initiatives, and supports tool selection while coaching others on data calculations.

What You May Have:

• Degree in business or legal-related field.

• Experience managing customs functions in a fast-paced manufacturing or logistics environment.

• Level 3 Certificate in Customs Compliance (UK).

• Familiarity with Ricardo Duty Management System or similar tools.
