Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Accountant (Research and Engineering)- (R&E) to join our team who will have the opportunity to champion our Global Finance Transformation by providing quality analysis from our new Center of Excellence. 

This is an exciting opportunity supporting Caterpillar's Integrated Components & Solutions (ICS) Division (that provides trusted engineering, research, validation, and manufacturing services to internal clients, as well as provides technology leadership to the enterprise).  

This Research and Engineering (R&E) Accountant role supports ICS financial management reporting and will participate in initiatives that enhance data and processes utilizing digital tools. This role will provide the candidate the opportunity for developing leadership skills, learn/drive reporting and analysis, further automation & advanced reporting tools and support Caterpillar’s Lean and continuous process improvement initiatives.

 The preference for this role is to be based out of Whitefield Office, Bangalore, India

 What you will do

Job Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordination of key ICS forecasting processes
  • Supporting global team of engineers and interacting with business support teams
  • Reconciliation of data between various financial systems to ensure timely and accurate ICS R&E reporting
  • Being the single point of contact supporting the ICS R&E reporting system
  • Maintaining data governance of ICS forecasting and reporting tools
  • Developing into a subject matter expert providing guidance to resolve engineering time reporting issues & providing training and support on the ICS forecasting process
  • Keeping up to date on new tools & technologies, evaluating or developing new ideas which lead to incremental efficiency improvements or improved accuracy
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve enterprise goals
  • Process Transition & Improvement:
  • Performing the tasks related to the transition of the projects in line with COE scope of work, timelines, business requirements and defined metrics/KPIs
  • Participating in knowledge transfer sessions, defining and owning the documentation (instruction manuals and scorecards/trackers)
  • Partnering with multiple global stakeholders on day-to-day operations
  • Identifying and leveraging on tools and technologies to transform processes
  • Driving continuous improvement via simplification, standardization and automation
  • Embedding change management best practices

Candidates should have below:

  • Experience with Research & Engineering type expense management
  • Proficiency with large databases and advanced reporting tools such as Power BI
  • Ability to quickly learn Caterpillar management reporting methodology and knowledge about products, suppliers, and consumers

Background/Experience/Skills & Capabilities

  • Proven experience in financial management reporting, analysis, forecasting, intercompany and month end processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial data, trends and patterns
  • Excellent customer service skills working in a global environment with multiple stakeholders to drive outcomes
  • Self-starter, works well independently and in a team, with excellent communication skills
  • Experience in process transitions and transformations in a virtual environment
  • CA or MBA Finance with 5-7 years of progressive experience
