The Managed Accounts & Transactions team owns the technology behind the CommBank app’s accounts and transactions experience—balance summaries, transaction history, enriched data, and the APIs that power these features. We operate at scale, ensuring reliability, security, and performance for critical customer journeys.

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a cross-functional team of engineers across native mobile (Android & iOS), backend (.NET), full-stack (Next.js & GraphQL), and AWS cloud. You’ll drive technical strategy, delivery excellence, and people leadership while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
You’ll partner with product, design, and architecture teams to shape the roadmap, modernise platforms, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

What you’ll do

• Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing engineering team across Android, iOS, backend, and full-stack disciplines.
• Own the technology estate for accounts and transactions features in the CommBank app.
• Drive adoption of modern engineering practices: CI/CD, DevSecOps, automation, and cloud-native architectures.
• Champion AI-powered coding tools (e.g., RooCode, Cline, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development and improve code quality.
• Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to define solution designs and technical standards.
• Ensure operational excellence for mission-critical services with high availability and resilience.
• Coach and mentor engineers, raising the bar for engineering craft and leadership.
• Influence stakeholders and promote a culture of diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

We’re interested in people who

• Have proven experience leading cross-platform engineering teams (mobile, backend, full-stack).
• Are passionate about native mobile development (Android – Kotlin/Jetpack Compose; iOS – Swift/SwiftUI).
• Understand backend technologies like C#, .NET Core or Java, Nodejs and microservices architecture.
• Have exposure to Next.js, React, and GraphQL for web and API development.
• Are experienced in AWS cloud services, especially containerised workloads (Fargate, ECS).
• Understand monitoring and observability tools (AppDynamics, Firebase, Observe, Obstack).
• Have strong knowledge of distributed systems, API design, and secure integration patterns.
• Promote engineering excellence and operational reliability in complex ecosystems.
• Embrace AI-assisted development workflows and integrate these tools responsibly.
