Overview:

As a Mechanical Engineering Group Lead, you will spearhead a team of 3-10 skilled professionals, including engineers, designers, and analysts. Your primary mission will be to deliver exceptional engineering support to a diverse range of high-profile clients such as NAVSEA, NSWC, MSC, FMS, USCG, various DOD programs, and shipyards. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the future of naval engineering, as you'll be at the forefront of developing next-generation Navy ships while simultaneously providing crucial engineering support to existing vessels.

You'll be involved in every stage of a ship's lifecycle, from initial program inception through concept development, design phases, construction, ongoing life cycle management, and fleet support. This comprehensive involvement will require you to leverage your expertise in mechanical engineering, particularly in areas such as mechanical systems, piping, HVAC, auxiliaries, and control systems. As a leader, you'll not only guide your team's technical efforts but also play a crucial role in resource management, strategic planning, and fostering growth within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform as a key engineering lead for various naval vessels, including aircraft carriers, combatants, amphibious, auxiliary, and specialized mission ships

• Manage engineering resources, staffing plans, and align with program needs for revenue stability and growth

• Ensure engineering and Quality Assurance standards are met for the mechanical engineering team(s)

• Stay current with modern mechanical ship design requirements and analysis technologies

• Support technical proposal development as needed

• Lead mechanical, piping, HVAC, auxiliaries, and controls systems engineering support for new construction, in-service design, and system modeling

• Provide the workforce with appropriate engineering and analytical tools

• Develop and improve design processes for mechanical modification and installation packages

• Interface with clients to provide technical solutions and recommendations

• Lead, direct, and review the work of team members

• Supervise junior and mid-level employees

• Set goals and objectives for team members

• Ensure policies, practices, and procedures are followed by direct reports

Required Qualifications:

*Must have the ability to obtain US Secret Clearance

• BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fluids Mechanics, Systems Engineering, or related field

• 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Nuclear, Power Plants, or Shipyard Construction and Repair

• 3+ years of experience leading an engineering team of at least 3 FTEs across multiple HM&E disciplines

• Experience briefing complex technical issues to decision-makers

• Explicit knowledge of ABS MVR/ABS NVR, NAVY SPECs, and Commercial Specs and standards

Desired Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience leading NAVSEA or MSC engineering team projects with at least 10 FTEs across HM&E disciplines

• Expertise in pump sizing and modeling in systems

• Proficiency in fluid analysis software (e.g., PIPE-FLO)

• Specialization in Fluids Theory, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Statics, Dynamics, or Vibration

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$78,700 - $165,300
