Svitzer – on behalf of Batangas Bay Towing Inc – is recruiting for a Finance Specialist for its operations in the Port Terminal of Batangas. If you have 3-5 years of experience in finance and accounting, and excellent knowledge of Philippines tax rules and regulations and government agency compliance requirements, here is a great opportunity to develop your finance career with a global leading towage operator and marine service provider company.

What you can look forward to

As Finance Specialist you will be responsible for supporting the finance department, ensuring that the company maintains accurate financial records and complies with all legal requirements. You will report to the Finance Manager, and manage daily accounting tasks, including preparing documents such as invoices and bank statements, reconcile accounts, update records and assist in the preparation of financial reports.

What you will do

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Review vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with tax and reporting requirements (e.g. invoices are BIR compliant, accounting/coding of transactions are proper and consistent)

  • Collate and compile documents for valid recharging of transactions to customer

  • Update and complete tax compliance substantiation by ensuring vendors OR, company/customer issued certificate of tax withheld, Company issued OR intact and valid

  • Prepare and submit compliance reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) for BIR, BOI, and BSP.

  • Assist Finance Manager on support requirement for company stakeholders (e.g. Government/Tax Authorities audits, shareholder requirements/enquiries, vendor reconciliation, etc.)

  • Monitor Government pronouncement/rulings that could affect tax compliance of the company

  • Government office visit/liaison.

  • Administer tax compliance function, ensuring the Company's tax filings and payments are timely, accurate, and compliant with laws and regulations.

  • Ensure that business operations and procedures align with statutory regulations and internal/external policies in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Prepare monthly cost recharge report to customer, along with supporting documents

  • Liaison with tax authorities on tax submission, enquiries, advisory, audits or inspections

  • Maintain and ensure proper documentation for tax records/ tax correspondence

  • Monitor and assess tax update, and identify areas of improvement for Company's operations

Who we are looking for

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • University degree or equivalent in finance, accounting, business administration or related field (CPA will be an advantage)

  • Proficient in MS Office applications

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Extensive knowledge of Philippine taxation and regulations and familiar with other government agencies compliance requirement (BIR, LGU, BOI, BSP, BOC, MARINA).

  • Minimum 3-5 years of similar role experience

  • Previous experience with accounting systems is preferred

  • Preferably residing in Batangas City

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Presentation and communication skills

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple deadlines effectively.

  • Ability to work professionally in a hybrid set up (onsite/in office, WFH, field work e.g. Government Office liaison)
