Job Description:

Job Overview 

The Warehouse Technician is accountable for moving finished product, raw materials and packaging within the Athens warehouse, and receiving/shipping materials in and out of the Athens warehouse, as well as handling packaging and recycled dunnage.  This role will be responsible for auxiliary activities such as: packaging material into sample boxes, operating the baler and operating the transloading equipment. The technician will also be required to work with SAP to ship and receive materials and for movements within the Warehouse to ensure inventory is accurate.

Job Tasks 

  • Load and unload dry van trailers 

  • Operate the stretch wrapping machine 

  • Repackage customer samples 

  • Handle shipping and receiving paperwork

  • Enter movement of materials into SAP  

  • Store and move materials 

  • Safely operate forklifts, packaging equipment, labeling tools

  • Coordinate material movements with third party logistics companies  

  • Pack overseas shipping containers 

  • Assist in the follow up on customer complaints, participate in root cause investigations

  • Labeling, repackaging, sorting and recycling materials throughout the operations area 

  • General housekeeping and light maintenance. 

  • Working under the direction of senior employees to move, weigh, mix, and stage materials

  • Assist bulk truck drivers in loading bulk trucks from finished goods silos 

  • Offload railcars of raw materials into silos. 

  • Interact and provide good customer service to drivers and vendors 

 

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licensures, and Certifications) 

  • Minimum requirement is High School Diploma or G.E.D. post-secondary education 

  • Must be able to be forklift certified. (Company certifies on-the-job) 

  • Must be able to work flexible rotating start times, Monday through Friday with occasional overtime and weekend shift capability 

 

Required Skills 

  • Must possess basic computer proficiency skills. 

  • Comfortable working computers and with SAP is a must. 

  • Strong interpersonal abilities in order to manage multifaceted communications with customers, internal partners and third party logistics carriers is required. 

  • Forklift experience preferred 

 

Work Environment / Physical Demands / Travel 

  • Standing and walking continuously 

  • Working at heights up to 20 feet 

  • Working in a fall arrest harness while climbing ladders on trailers    

  • Sitting and operating a forklift for extended periods of time  

  • Lifts/Carries 20 - 50 Lbs. frequently  

  • Lifts/Carries 50 - 100 Lbs. with assistance occasionally  

  • Reaching and bending frequently 

  • Pushes/pulls occasionally  

  • Working outdoors in all environments
