Principal Software Engineer

Office hybrid in Seattle, WA

As a Principal Engineer (PMTS) for our Infrastructure Project, you will be pivotal in crafting, developing, and implementing advanced and scalable infrastructure solutions. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that architectural designs meet both business objectives and technical specifications, driving the success of our infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • **Architectural Design:** Build and document high-level and detailed architectural designs for infrastructure projects, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and performant.
  • **Technical Leadership:** Provide expert technical mentorship to development teams, ensuring compliance with architectural standards and best practices.
  • **Collaboration:** Partner with product managers, developers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into effective architectural solutions.
  • **Innovation:** Keep abreast of the latest trends and advancements in infrastructure and software architecture, integrating new technologies into project designs when appropriate.
  • **Risk Management:** Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the stability and reliability of the infrastructure.
  • **Performance Optimization:** Continuously monitor and enhance the performance of infrastructure components, addressing issues proactively.
  • **Documentation:** Maintain thorough architectural documentation and offer training and support to team members on architectural standards and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A related technical degree required.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in software architecture, specifically focused on infrastructure projects.
     

Technical Skills:

  •  Proficiency in infrastructure technologies, including cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and orchestration tools.
  •  Strong understanding of networking, DNS, and database technologies.
  •   Experience with Service Mesh, EKS (Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service), and Nginx.
  •   Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, Jenkins, Git).
  •   Knowledge of microservices architecture and API design.
     

Soft Skills:

  •   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  •   Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  •   Proven track record of effective teamwork and collaboration.
  • **Certifications:** Relevant certifications in cloud architecture, DevOps, or related areas are advantageous.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $204,400 to $341,900.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
