We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Maintenance Manager (3rd Shift) in Morton, IL.

Job Summary

  • This Maintenance Manager (3rd Shift) position is critical to the success of the Morton facility. This position is responsible for: providing maintenance support for operations, janitorial, buildings, grounds, and equipment. Supervising skilled trades craftsmen including electricians, mechanics, and painters. Leading repairs of equipment, coordinating projects with engineering and supporting contracted services as needed. The impact that the maintenance team has on the Morton facility is apparent when considering that the tasks they accomplish enable safe operation of the facility along with proper throughput of material. As with any team, these craftsmen require a leader to help them prioritize tasks, perform in a safe manner, and lead engagement efforts.  

Additional Info:

  • This role is located in Morton, IL and does not offer relocation
  • This role is 3rd Shift: Sunday-Thursday 11pm-7am
  • This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for remote or hybrid schedules

What You Will Do:

  • Directly supervising skilled trades employees and contracted technicians.  
  • Providing all maintenance support for operations, janitorial, buildings, grounds, and equipment.  
  • Coaching and mentoring teams in order to encourage, motivate, and guide individuals in learning and improving effectiveness.
  • Creating work plans for staff and contractors; reviewing the maintenance work performed by technicians.
  • Making purchasing decisions and recommendations regarding equipment and tools; training the workers periodically on various maintenance processes and techniques.
  • Monitoring the maintenance budget; identifying cost-effective alternatives for current maintenance activities.
  • Tracking daily inventories, inspecting production units for wear and tear; ensuring replacements are made on time.

What You Have (Required Skills):

  • Conflict Management: Knowledge of managing conflicts; ability to anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts at the individual, group, or situation level.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Warehouse Preventive Maintenance: Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and its functioning; ability to conduct Preventive Maintenance at scheduled intervals to determine equipment's corrective actions and avoid untimely breakdowns.
  • Plant Operation and Maintenance: Knowledge of plant operation principles, methods and processes; ability to handle day-to-day and strategic issues, operational requirements and management of a manufacturing facility.
  • Competent and functional with Microsoft based applications.

What You Will Get

  • The maintenance department for our Morton, IL Distribution Center is responsible for over 400 PM (Preventive Maintenance) work orders and over 400 unplanned work orders a month, and we provide constant support for operations. Our mechanics, electricians, and technicians lead troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance for a highly automated and connected warehouse. We manage over 30 miles of light-duty and heavy-duty conveyors and over 40 ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems) material handling cranes. Additionally, we support over a dozen Vision Guided Vehicle robots (Seegrid), Autostore (144 robots and 24 ports), along with many other automated types of equipment such as tote exchange, deconsolidation cell, goods to person stations, lantech stretch wrapper, customer box builder and more!
