We are seeking an experienced leader for our Workers' Compensation Administration department, overseeing a $250 million program that is growing and evolving. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the department, including underwriting, operations, technology, and program management, to drive business growth, improve operational efficiency, and optimize loss ratios while ensuring effective risk management practices. This role will require heavy program management expertise to execute strategic initiatives that deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Department Leadership: Oversee the entire Workers' Compensation Administration department, including underwriting, operations, and policy administration.
  • Business Strategy & Growth: Develop and execute strategic plans to drive growth, profitability, and market share expansion in the Workers' Compensation business.
  • Program Management: Develop, manage, and execute large-scale programs to improve loss ratios, reduce costs, and enhance overall business performance. This includes overseeing multiple projects, prioritizing initiatives, and allocating resources to achieve business objectives. Managing the program means working closely with our carriers to review claims and potentially make underwriting changes to improve the loss rate for the program.
  • Operational Efficiency: Manage day-to-day operations, policy servicing, and customer support, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Technology & IT Integration: Collaborate with IT leadership to design, implement, and integrate technology solutions that support business objectives, enhance operational efficiency, and improve customer experience.
  • Loss Ratio Management: Monitor and analyze loss ratios, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to optimize results.
  • Risk Management: Ensure effective risk management practices are in place, including risk assessment, mitigation, and monitoring.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong relationships and collaboration across departments, including Underwriting, Claims, Operations, IT, and Finance, to drive business outcomes and ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and customer-centricity. Motivate and inspire team members to achieve exceptional results.
  • Accountability: Take ownership of business outcomes, including financial performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Ensure transparency and accountability throughout the organization, and be personally accountable for results and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry, with a focus on Workers' Compensation
  • Proven track record of success in leadership roles, driving business growth, and improving operational efficiency
  • Strong underwriting, operations, and risk management expertise
  • Experience with technology implementation and IT integration
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to motivate and inspire teams
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with ability to build effective relationships across departments
  • Heavy program management experience, with ability to oversee multiple projects and prioritize initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPCU, ARM, or other relevant professional designations
  • Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry trends
  • Experience working in a Property & Casualty insurance company with a strong workers' compensation business and a proven track record of success in similar roles.
